The Nintendo land is scheduled to open at Universal Studios Japan in 2020, and will focus on Nintendo characters. The wristband is said to interface “back with your game console. Universal Studios’ latest theme park expansion will be Super Nintendo World. Visitors will also be given a magnetic wristband that interacts with the rides and games around Super Nintendo World, granting visitors points for certain achievements. Today we learned that the first of these new lands, Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Japan, will open at the theme park on February 4, 2021. The ride will involve 40 animatronics, and will consist of both indoor and outdoor areas, taking riders up to the upper level of the theme park for a panoramic view. Several years ago Universal Studios Parks & Resorts and Nintendo put together a deal that would see some of the most popular characters and games transformed into theme park attractions. While there’s no official details about the two rides, recent reports have suggested that the Yoshi ride will be an omnimover-style experience with each cart resembling Yoshi. Williams also confirmed that two rides based on Super Mario Kart and Yoshi will form part of the new Universal Studios extension’s Phase One launch.
During Comcast’s 2019 Media, Communications & Entertainment Conference, CEO of Universal Parks & Resorts Tom Williams announced that the first Nintendo theme park - titled Super Nintendo World - will be opening in Osaka, Japan, in spring next year.
